recently a friend of mine was telling me about her pastor. his theory is that there are two types of churches, barbarian churches and settler churches. barbarian churches are churches are the ones that are out in the world, conquering it for Jesus Christ. they are not asking any questions, just going out and doing it. they are not allowing themselves to be defined by or stuck into any boxes by anyone. settler churches are the ones that a maintaining the status quo. they are the ones that tread cautiously into the waters, they ask a ton of questions first and then maybe they will say or do something.
